Can anyone tell me who is laying this egg? I've got 5 hens that lay brown eggs, all different breeds. Id love to figure out who is responsible for these beautiful, huge nuggets! Then I'm going to get a few more of that breed. I got a mixed batch from Cackle, so they are all purebreds, but since they lay while I'm at work, I haven't been able to catch them to see.

Add a camera to the coop/nesting boxes. I have a few months before I have this dilemma though.

Is that a double yolker? What breeds do you have? I think double yolk eggs can be a sign that all is not well with a hen's reproductive system. Maybe @aart can shed some light on this.

It is a glitch, but not a serious problem. I had a BO that laid several double yolker a week the first year. The next year a couple of times a month, and then year three - one or two, as she came back into lay - never another one.

That's good to know.

I've got a Silver-laced Wyandotte, a Salmon Favorolles, a red one and 2 white ones I'm not sure of the breeds
