Would love to see everyone's leading lady of their flock if you are all up for sharing. We had a big shift on our flock not too long ago, and one of our Australorps stepped up to fill the void and has been conducting herself gracefully at the top of the pecking order.
Her name is Oregano, she's a big shiny fluffy 3 year old Australorp.

What do you guys call the spot at the top of the pecking order?, And whose your current or past favorite leading lady?
How's her demeanor?

We call the top the "boss hen". Ours is a 4 year old White Plymouth Rock named Iris. She's the only white bird in the flock! She was supposed to be a cockerel in an order of 10 "Fry Pan Bargain" roosters from Meyer Hatchery. I was watching this flock of future meals and noticed one was a pullet, after which I removed her and put her in with the main flock. We love her plucky attitude and no-nonsense approach to life. I can't find a photo of her though.

She sounds greats, so cool that she is at the top, we've found for us that the 'one white hen' of the flock is an outlier and a very intriguing bird to watch.
