Why a red comb so early?

Here's my wyandotte boy around 5-6 weeks. Comb ridge starting to red up and has the beginning of wattles. Also note the darker band of color on his shoulders. This is typical for males.

The two girls same breed and age are some pale pink and hardly any wattle development.
they look so cute! I lost one wyandotte yesterday 😥 but I still have 5 more.
Thank you for your help! I will keep everyone posted the next few weeks.

Probably a roo, but could surprise you. Wyandottes red up early. My GLW will be 8 weeks in 2 days, but are much more feathered out than both of yours, and your pullet is much more feathered than your first one, which could further indicate yours is a he?

okay yeah .... we think he is a rooster too. it's feathers shine blue/green in sun.

We ordered all hens from the hatchery but I guess they put a rooster in there,
we will have to wait and see if it starts to crow.

Perfectly normal! It may be a rooster, although a couple of mine turned red early and they still turned out to be hens.

That doesn't only occur to males, it also occurs in females. :)
My hen has purple blue feathers and she is so pretty 🥰 so yes it is hard to say if it is a roo or hen.
