Why am I the only one in my family who NEEDS animals?

I think my family would do fine without the animals too. Ofcourse when I mention getting rid of them there is protest,but on the other hand they can go days without acknowledging them. I get comments from dh that I am pet crazy because I was out there tending to the hens with the flu.Well duh,the animals still need care even if I am sick.It is not like I would not rather be in bed sleeping!
Of all the animals I would miss my hens the most.My 8yo ds will often help with all the animals,but he could still go days without tending to them if I never mention needing some help.

i cant live "right" without all my animals! family still doesnt get it. dont care, its my life!

I totally agree. All the animals we have are from my doing except 1 chihuahua-which My dh hubby took in when the neighbor abandoned him at 5 months old!-I DID NOT WANT HIM as my only dog had one foot in the grave already-but he was a total blessing-then we adopted two cats from ASPCA-so perfect? Mom took care of all of them no biggie I guess-then we get the house we have now and a few chickens-everyone helped with them-they loved them and their eggs--soo because everyone was great with them I got more and more and more-now the chickens are all my responsibility-I thought the family would really help... not so much:-( But thats cool-Now I make my girls walk the dogs 3-4x a day not me, since they wont help with the chickens-I clean kitty litter boxes and they feed and water them! My youngest loves the chickens but wants nothing to do with caring for them... Id be lost without my animals really LOST as they keep me so busy and grounded at home...DH does let the chickens out every mornig to free range and feeds and waters them since Im taking the kids to school and going to work earlier than he gets out of bed..LOL I dont have it that bad I just wish I had a tiny bit more help when I clean out coops and such-or processing day-NO ONE is around for that just me:-(

Life without animals would be miserable. they are the spirit that keeps me going on days i feel very sad, they make me smile. I saw on another thread someone's sig line:

I would rather sleep in the car with my dog than in a house with him.
