Why are baby Turkeys so hard to Raise?

Well, add me to the unsuccessful batch. My nargonsett hatched 16 of her 18 eggs 5 days ago. She did great as a mother, and I moved them inside to a pen we use for goat birthing. I now have 2 babys left. I watched them eat, and drink. Then a few hours later there will be another dead chick. The last two are eating and drinking, but I don't have much hope.
Pleanty of heat (mom was with them, and sitting on them up until just now, and they have a heat lamp with room to move.

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What do you think happened? What was the reason for moving them? Could you have left them where they were? Was there too much heat?

So sorry to hear that. That's a big ole bummer.

She hatched them in an old chicken hutch that was elevated and moved them herself outside. So I moved them inside because it was going to rain that night,

I’m incubating turkey eggs for a friend for the first time. Ive brooded three broods of chickens successfully. 27 more days to go!
