Why are chickens attracted to BLOOD?

Does anyone have an answer to this? Because the other day, I had a small gash around my ankle and one started to peck on it!!

The chicken is the closest living relative to the T-Rex. Blood=food. You looked delicious in red!

Chickens are attracted to the color red. Thats why a lot of feeders and waterers are red or have red parts. The red of blood is why it is often necessary to camoflage the injury of a chicken with something like Blu-Kote to keep the other birds from attacking it. Why red? I don't think anyone knows.
