We went to several county fairs this year to look at the 4-H chickens.
As our chicks were growing leaps and bounds since the day we received them as day old hatchery chicks, we wondered how big they would eventually be.
The fair pullets and hens were huge and we thought ours would be that size. They are laying now and none of them are the sizes we saw even though they are the same breeds.
Do 4-H'ers know where to get the larger chicken stock or will ours continue to grow? Or do hatcheries generally sell small birds?
