Why are my chicks so rude?

My BR chicks are so rude. They are the biggest of the group, way bigger than the LF black cochins and Turkens that are the same age. They walk all over everyone else to get where they want to go even though they have tons of space to go around. They are just huge. and rude. Is this normal for this breed, or are they just brats?

I dont have BR's but I do have a few rude chickens. The Black Aust's are rude to me and the other chickens. Blacky is constantly picking/pecking on me just to annoy me. She's such a brat, she will purposely walk over to me just to peck me. I usually chase her away or sometimes I"ll scoop her up and tell her to leave me alone. Pony is my other BA and she is always pickin fights, she the smallest chicken but is not low woman on the totem pole. The RIR's I got, one is just a butt. Her name is Rosy and she is a trouble maker. She sits on the waterer and poops in the water( I fixed that with a tomato cage upside down), shoves all the nesting material out of the box, acts like the coop is hers and all must bow down to her, she seems to escape all the time. I tell ya.. if it werent for chicken personalities I'd be bored!

My little Dominique girl is the same way! She looks identical to a BR chick, and I think the breeds are closely related. She is the biggest one, really pushy, and she's fearless! She'll walk up to my hand when I put it in the brooder (While the other five run screaming). I think they all just have really big personalities. Have you read the "Adventures of Barbara" thread on the forum? It's a hilarious account of the daily adventures of another Barred Rock with a strong personality! If you search for "barbara" it should come up!

My barred rocks have never been really social. They just prefer to keep to themselves. My "boss" hen has always ended up being a BR.

When my BR was a chick, she too was bigger than the others. I'm sure she stepped on the others going for the food. But she has never been a bully. Even as a chick, she was more likely to be picked on (her feathers came in first and perhaps the barring looks like bugs). Now that she is almost a year, she is probably 2nd in the pecking order of four, but is really a good chicken. So, anyway, it's likely they'll change with time. Just cuddle them all equally
