Does this just mean they are mixed colors? Will they keep the white heads as adults?

Must have the white head gene & yes, if they are feathering out w/white head they will still have it as adults. I have a white head blue female Scovie and some of her ducklings are getting white heads even now. Some don't show it until they molt out. I've read that with each molt more white shows up. I guess time will tell.

I do know the feeling. I have a black pied girl who, after her first hatch mind you, has changed color on me. She was a barred baby and now her barrs have gotten stronger as well as her head going white on me. Quite a change in appearance. Still love her though.

She hatches nice big drakes and pretty long tailed girls.

The white-headed gene is dominant. Just thought you may want to know. And the head will get whiter with subsequent moultings.

Personally, I love the white heads! Nice contrast with the dark bodies.

I don't know what color this girl is. I call it champagne

cause she doesn't look buff to me. She's too silvery. I bought her at the same farm I bought the two chocolates and a chocolate and silver drake. The owner got her and three others from a friend. She's getting a white head too though.

Thanks for the post, a few of my muscovies are developing white heads as well and I was wondering if it was a dominant trait.
Sorry that you didn't get any solid chocolates but they are still good looking muscovies.

Hello, I just got a flock of 6 hens and one drake, all chocolates. Three of my hens have white heads. My drake and three other hens are perfect and solid chocolate, I'm planning on hatching and retaining hens from the 3 that are solid and eventually culling the white heads.

Thanks baregretchen, I think she's beautiful too. She is the shyest and my oldest sons favorite. He holds her a lot. Though last time he was stroking her head and she whipped around and grabbed his finger hard! He was amazed she shook and twisted her head instead of "just" biting him,
