I have two drakes, a Pekin and a East runner drakes both are 3 month old, but their recent behavior has change. I would often leave to go inside and would hear them Quak so loud and raise their head feathers when I would stand up or leave. Are they still not used to me? Or do they feel attached when they would hear the door close. I raise them well and both are happy little ducks when they get zoomiz or bop their heads, are they simply attached because they would see me get ready to leave?? 😭

Potentially, one of my girls is very social and quacks quite distressed if I leave when she isn't expecting it. I think its her way of trying to look out for her flock- since she believes I'm part of her flock having raised them both.

It could also be that they're spooked by you standing up.

Are you certain these are drakes? Drakes don't "quack" properly, their voice should be more raspy, whispery. I've never encountered a very loud drake

Yes I'm certain they are both drakes, just recently they have grown their drake feather, and I've had them since they were just a week old. They are very loud and have raspy quack to them because they have matured just a couple of weeks ago.

Though they change their tone when I get closer to them, they go from "quacking" to chattering. Still very loudly
