I have a LF silkie that was POL late last season so didnt start laying until this season, ive placed her eggs in the incubator and each one is fertile but never made it past a week in incubator before giving up and not progressing, i have other silkie eggs from other hens in same incubator doing just fine and are hatching any day now, so problem not with incubator.. anyone else know whats going wrong? I do have 3 miniature silkies in the same run, 1 seems to be always infertile other 2 are hit and miss with success... is my problem with the hen or the roo?

Try trimming some butt fluff on your Silkies. All that fuzz makes his job difficult. If that doesn’t seem to help, I would think it’s just your rooster as Sour said.

Unfortunately my birds dont live with me their at my mums far away i wont let anyone else do that but me, but im glad u think that might be one of the issues i already had that thought and will give them a trim asap... maybe ill try swap rooster also, we had this rooster with other hens before and we werent sure if those eggs werent hatching also but looks like it was so... thankyou very much x

you could try feeding more nutritious treats, I have a seed mix for chickens that has like 12 different types of seeds. Spinach is very nutritious. A poor diet can reduce hatch rates in eggs, just a thought. It would take a couple of months to notice any effects though
