Why are my roosters crowing at?

Hi all, do you have any idea why my roosters are crowing at 3:30 am...these ones are in an open shed roosting with just one fat little Jersey giant hen but could be harmed if they attract something not nice. Why are they doing this? I have been so worried about them. I am a night owl but I go to bed about the time they start crowing. Thanks!

It could be that something is frightening them- you might think about making a fence out of welded wire to close them in...even if it's a bit ghetto-looking, it will save them.

It could be anything...the paperboy's car lights get mine up.

That's a good idea, I think I will do that!! Thanks alot! They are where I can see them and have not seen anything around the shed but I am not positive they are not seeing something!

If you go to bed at that time it could be your light that they see or hear you moving in the house and that wakes them up.

I posted earlier today about my rooster crowing frequently. He starts about 3:30 a.m. Who knows why. He must drive the hens crazy at night with his crowing, like he does me during the day! They probably have bags under their eyes.

Nope but if you figure it out please spread the word. Stupid neighbors at our old house had a roo that crowed round the clock... 6am... noon... 3am... did not matter... of course, they didn't really care when he'd get out and wander the area either. And should you have the nerve to try and ask them to come get their dang bird it was 'no habla ingles'... so then I'd say it in spanish and really annoy them.

Note: Roos are illegal in Arlington... THEY never got a citation even though AC was repeatedly called. But, I can guarantee you if I had a roo for 5 minutes I'd find a ticket on my door. Stupid Murphy and his annoying laws.
