Why are ready-made coops off the ground? Insulated? Cooling?

Thanks for the input! I see now!
I won't worry so much about that then. I liked the strawbale idea, but may use metal skirting for 90% in winter to keep critters from homing there. Right now we use part of our storage building as the coop and it is working fine--wanting to move and need to think ahead.
