Why are some cochin eggs brown and some white/cream?

My cochin isn't quite old enough to lay yet so I don't know what color her eggs will be but I know that there can be a variation in a chicken's egg color from day to day. I see it all the time with my Australorps and Brahmas. Typically the Brahma eggs are darker brown than the Australorps but if I put 12 Brahma eggs in a carton there may be only 3 or 4 that are the same color (of brown). I think that is probably true of most breeds that lay colored eggs. Just my opinion.

I'm assuming you just mean the eggs are different shades of brown right? Their egg colors wouldn't change totally from brown to white.

I think it most have something to do with bloodlines. I wonder if Luckypickens could offer some input......

Yeah, hope she sees this. I might ask her over her farm's facebook page too, I think she is on there a little more often, but she may have gone dormant since chick season is pretty much over lol. She was very nice and gave me a tour of her farm before I purchased, and from what I could see all her cochins laid that creamy color, but she has a lot of them in almost any color imaginable as far as plumage goes, so she could have brown layers too...

i have a buff colored Cochin, she is gotten to be a big girl. Don't think she is quite ready to lay eggs yet.
I'm wondering what color eggs i can expect.
And a black Australorp, who seems almost bantam, small compared to the cochin, yet they are about the same age.
The older two are a red and a golden red, and they, or a t least one, are laying dark brown eggs. I posted pix of their first two.
since they started, an egg a day with one day no egg near the start.
About the size of golf balls, maybe small, but i expect those will get bigger?

My cochin is a big girl. She is red in color and lays light brown eggs. Generally different shades on a daily basis, but brown none the less. She is about the same color as a rhode island red.

mine is a bantam cochin x EE, maybe I'll get tiny green eggs??? she's not laying yet, but... I'm not exactly sure how old she is, and I've only had her for 3 weeks... could take a month to start laying again with the stress of a move if she was laying before I got her... but I didn't ask... it didn't matter, she was sweet and I was there to get a roo, but chicken math + sweet tiny fluff = 1 roo, 1 banty, and oh what the heck... another roo (EE with feathered feet!)
I'll follow along and when she gets to laying... I'll post a picture

It took exactly 13 days for mine to start laying again from her move and the bear attack on the coop. That is the reason I got her. She is the only one that survived. The old care takers of her decided it was time for her to go to a safer place. So she came to me. Unfortunately I have a lot of predators at my place also. I saw a bobcat probably 30 feet from the coop this evening. I dont think he will get in though. It is like fort knox out there. I am going to add some reinforcement bar in the ground this weekend. One 18 inch piece every 3 inches around the coop. That should slow predators down a bit.
Anyway my cochin is a sweetie. Very talkative and always comes running when I come outside and head toward the coop.

What color did she lay?
