Why are they all picking on one chicken?

i got 24 chickens i got 8 hens at once then this fall got 8 more pullets and 6 baby silikies......well they all pick on one of the 8 pullets she looks real ragady should i put her by herself will she do ok or should i put her in my new silkie pen im going to build she looks more ragady each week

Definitely pull her out.
Can you put her with one or two who are not aggressive towards her?

Yea I got to get her out I'm hoping the silkiies wont mind ...I also forgot to add they wont even let her sleep in the coop she has to sleep in the run on the roosting poles by herself with winter coming I got to do something

they may kill her. It will be very traumatic for you to find. If that will disturb you, seperate her, especially if she's asking you for help.

We did that with one hen, and she is now the Lord of the Flock. The chicken pecking order will change and morph as the hens grow older.

This has happened with me lately. We had 2 old hens and a rooster and took on 3 new rhode island reds and an australorpe~ all 5 months old. The rooster instantly loved the black austrlorpe, but the rir's he picks on and one rir that I think is maybe a month younger than the rest, he is relentless with. He will dive at her from across the pen running at her pecking and flogging... chasing her all around. We made a pen within the pen so that they have to see each other all the time, but the rooster can't get to her no matter how hard he may try. We put a mate in with her so she's not alone even if they are all right there almost together. I couldn't stand to watch them all pick on the youngest pullet. No way. Why in the world the old chickens and roo took to the black asustralorpe is such a mystery to me!

If you have aggressive birds they will likely pick a different bird to pick on when you remove the pullet. Pecking order is tough. Remove the aggressive ones or the flogged ones. My own opinion is to send aggressive birds to freezer camp.

I call it stewardship. That might not be the right word, but I intervene on behalf of the lesser birds when necessary. I like peaceful, bucolic, pleasant..........

I usually cull overly aggressive birds, to keep the peace in the coop.
