Why are this bird's feathers so fluffy? Also is missing toenails

Below are some pics of a bird I hatched out of a barn yard mix egg order.

Why are her feathers like this? Also she is missing toenails but seems not to bother her.

She has frizzled feathers. Very cute! Usually seen in breeds like Pekin/Cochin bantams. It’s perfectly normal. Just avoid breeding her to another frizzled chicken.

Yep, she's a frizzle. The parents must have a hidden frizzle gene even though they are not frizzled themselves.

I am not sure why the nails are missing, but some extra protein could help them regrow or at least strengthen the nails that remain.
