chickens so addicting? I was just wondering what some people thought about this.

I think it's because they are so cute, vulnerable, loving and accepting. Basically, peaceful and well meaning. I think that pulls at the heart strings for a lot of us, me at least!

Ditto. In addition- they are flock animals... and I think it's only natural to want to add more to your flock. I also want my flock to have lots of color and variety in the eggs... only way to do so is to keep adding breeds!!!

Because they are cheap to obtain. Once you start hatching there is very little cost involved until they get older. I know if I total all the money I've spent since this addiction began I would be flabbergasted. I am however comming to my senses.

We don't see ourselves as collectors but we are. Just like the crazy cat lady with a house full of cats, we are crazy chickens people with a barn full of chickens. I suspect if they didn't lay eggs, we couldn't eat them or throw their poo in our gardens, we'd feel completely different.

Now leave me alone I have to go look at the new chicks that were born! Tomorrow I have to go to my therapist.

idk, you tell me...

Many reasons come to mind......

1. Because they are so cute when you first pick them up/buy them and they are so lovable (They are like your children).

2. Because they need you to care for them so the parenting gene kicks in.

3. They are like a really good chip you just can't have one.

4. They are cheaper then seeing a shrink and you can talk to them and they will listen and respond to you.

5. Unlike your children you call them they will come running.

6. If they (roosters) get to bad or to hard for you to handle you can always eat them.

7. They produce your breakfest for you everyday no questions asked.

8. When they (hens) get to old to lay you can eat them as well.

9. Unlike other people in your life (ie your children your parents your spouse) they won't talk back to you.

10. They are fun to watch.

11. So easy to take care of.

12. They don't complain about anything (as long as they have food water and a nesting box that is in a safe area they are good).

13. They produce great "green"compost and alot of it in one day/night

14. When we here the little peeps we can't say no.

15. Once you brood out one set you really feel confident and you want more of different breeds (at least that is the way I felt about it look down there at my signature I picked out all the 1's and the wife got the 3's

)

16. (The big one) WE JUST LOVE FUZZY BUTTS (enuff said)
