Hello!
I have 6 RIRxCOL chickens, they are 22 weeks old and they aren’t laying yet. I was wondering why? They are on layer feed, they have the option for oyster shells. Any help would be great !

Hi! I currently have chickens about the same age as yours, and are not laying yet. Sometimes chickens don't lay in the winter because of the cold. Also, chickens need a certain amount of daylight for there egg cycle! Also some breeds or chickens take longer to mature, so you might just have too wait a few more weeks!!

What is COL?
How long have they been on layer feed?

My youngsters are around that age and are not laying - 24 weeks, Golden Laced Wyandotte. They seem healthy - running around, oyster shell, eat well. They all free range later afternoon, but I haven't seen sign of eggs in the yard.
Is it a good idea to keep them in the run now until they do start laying?
