My 3 chickens that are only two years old havent laid an egg for the last couple of weeks. I have no idea why. Theyve been eating a layer feed that ive not had any issues with in the past. Theyre not getting any skinnier and theyre definitely still eating. I leave a plate of oyster and egg shells and they usually pick at it but its been completely untouched as of late and i know its obviously because theyre not laying. The only thing i could possibly think is the heat is affecting them. They have water at all times but we are in San diego poway and its been 90-100 degrees the past couple of weeks. They were too young to lay last year so we never got to experience how they reacted in this heat

In my area (Missouri, near Saint Louis), the heat and humidity can definitely stop laying...I have almost 200 chickens of different breeds, and it affects all of them. Ducks, too!

And, at this time of year, molting can steal the show! Replacing those feathers takes a lot of protein that would otherwise go into egg production. You may not see evidence of molting until the feathers fall out, but they start building those replacement feathers before the old ones fall out!
