Why Bantams? I don't get it....

Oh and yes, the cuteness is a huge plus

Ok, not trying to offend anyone here- but i think alot of people who like bantams think of their chickens as pets,m and would keep them eggs or not (like me). I know alot of people just keep them for eggs and meat, but I name all my chickens, give them treats three times a day, love them, cuddle them, ect. Personally I don't have bantams, but I would love some!

They are adorable and sweet and if you think about it, smaller chickens means less feed to buy and less space taken up. I only have 2 banties(silkies) but i absolutely love them!
I mean look at this:

Bantams are a perfect size for a child in 4H. Easy to handle. Eats less food. Takes up less space. Creates less mess. You can fit 2 banties (depending on the size of them) for 1 large fowl. They have tons of personality.

The only banty I have are silkies. They are the largest true bantam. It's all a matter of taste. Why question what other people like?

For example, I don't understand how anyone in their right mind could like green peppers.. I don't overly think it. Why is it important what others like? All that is important is what you like.

That's like saying, "Why do people like blue chickens? Or white chickens?" It's just a preference. Why do some people like big cars and some not? A lot of people don't kill and eat their chickens when they're done laying (I couldn't), so "dual purpose minded" means nothing to them. Everybody's different and everyone keeps chickens for a different reason.

I personally don't prefer banties, nor own them, and that shouldn't be offensive to anyone. Neither should I get up in arms about the idea that someone prefers them. That's like being angry at someone for preferring to wear house-slippers in their home over just socks. It really is preference... and a harmless one at that.

Why bantams.....? Hmmmm let me think...

They are cute! Plus mine are just plain sweet. Even my little rooster is sweet. I love my LF but my little bantam hens have won me over!

Hope you will experience them one day!

Thank You! I often wonder why people care if someone has a preference for something. I hate sports, but I don't get upset because others enjoy them. I like all chickens, small, large, fuzzy and naked. They all have qualities that appeal to me.

People who like sports are C.R.A.Z.Y!

No really. It's just common sense that everyone has different tastes. We pick the qualities we like in people/animals. Why spend your time trying to get why they like what they like.

I also like almost every type of chicken. Don't tell anyone, but I really don't like pure Americaunas

I don't judge on breeders who breed them.
