I'm getting very frustrated. I have been looking all over to get some day old chicks (pullets only) and can't find them in the breeds I want.

Why is it that I can only find the following in straight run:?
Cochins
Bantams
Frizzles
Silkies
Some Polish breeds?

I already have one rooster, but don't want to chance buying straight run and ending up with a bunch of male birds when what I want is eggs.

My Pet Chicken is the only hatchery I know of that has sexed bantam day olds. They also have small orders for those of us that only want a few or a couple of each type. They are a little more expensive, but worth it, as they add a heat pack for the small orders to stay warm enough. They don't have cochin, and have a rather limited selection of colors of the other breeds, but better than nothing

The main reason is that they are too hard to sex, as someone else said. Some hatcheries do sell them sexed, but far as I hear - Especially with Silkies, they're wrong if they claim 70% or more of a correct gender.
