I had a trio of adult Rouens. All three were from a hatchery. I lost the drake 2 or 3 weeks ago(

) So I'm trying to find a good home for the 2 hens. Is $20 for 2 adult FEMALES to much? I have put about $20 in each of them for food/shelter/care ect. I didn't think it would take so long to rehome. Should I put the price down? I didn't think it was to high. I could have gotten $25 for a drake last month!! Any advice? What is a good price for them??

I wouldn't lower your price any unless your really desperate to get rid of them. $20 for the pair is a real bargin as it is. If I were close I would gladly buy them at that price. I think the time of year has a lot to do with selling birds. I raise and sell pheasants, quail and mallards, and sinse our temperatures have gone up above 110 no one is buying and it's much too hot now to ship birds. Its a lot of work to take care of birds in the summer, especialy ducks. So, if you can, I would be patient and maybe wait until latter in the year.

Well, slightly desperate. But I can wait till late fall at the latest to sell them. They don't work in my breeding program for my Welsh Harlequins. But you think my price is ok? I was worried it was to high.

Don't despair, sometimes it just takes the right person to come along. You might also want to post on a poultry yahoo group in your area.
Good luck. I just posted a pair of Pilgrims on craigslist, we will see.

20 for TWO hens? Defiantly do not lower your price! I can't find even hatchery hens for less than 15 EACH. Trust me DG someone will come along and grab them it just takes some time.

If I was closer I would definitely buy them.

Well they are just 2 hatchery hens. But they are very bonded to each other. The 3 of them (drake and 2 hens) were VERY bonded, but losing him made me & the hens very sad, and they are very bonded now. So they must go together. I don't like splitting birds up.

Goodness don't lower your price. $20 is a real steal! I'd grab them. WH are my 3rd favorite breed and females ducks lay eggs. If you can wait for Fall - actually I'd up the price to $30 for the pair and make sure you include pretty pictures and mention that they are great egg layers. The right person WILL nab them! gosh wish I loved closer! LOL

I've had a really hard time selling my extra ducks this year too. I don't know why- I'd keep the ducks over chickens any day.
Don't lower your price- that is already really cheap for adult females.
