Bought my first straight runs in the middle of April, 2020 (2-3 weeks old). Then a few more a few weeks later.
Total of 14 now.
3 Silkies (white, black, partridge) White one is definitely a cockerel.
2 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes
3 (not sure, but think Leghorn, maybe a Splash Orpington, and a White one that has black speckles around collar/neck and black tipped tail feathers)
When the store got the next shipment I added
1 Americauna pullet
3 Leghorn pullets
2 Dominique pullets
I am fully disabled and struggle with medication resistant depression.
We ventured into this world to provide eggs, possibly meat, and I personally did not expect to fall head over heels in love with everything about chickens.
The routine, curiosity, research, interaction, physical labor (built my own temp structures so far - ugly repurposed old furniture, but functional). I’m currently planning construction on a large coop. Slow going, as on disability, the plans are much further than the materials. However, I am benefiting so much, even to the patience of waiting.
I have 2 more Blue Laved Red Wyandotte pullets on order (were supposed to arrive weeks ago, but there is a shortage). I love their demeanor, but the order was because I was afraid I’d only get 2 roosters, since they were straight runs.
A few members here say the ones I have are pullets too.
If you read this whole thing, thank you. I ramble.
I’m in North Texas, near Mckinney.
