I have bought a total of 6 tophats on 2 occasions from 1 person. Bought 5 the first time aound and lost 2, both of the same color. Bought 1 different color along with other chicks this last time and at the ripe old age of 10 days old I find it dead this morning. Is it just a coincidence or is it a polish tophat thing? I know these things happen but c'mon 50%. Out of the 21 birds I bought in all, I only lost 2 other birds. Even the retarded bird is still alive! Im so frustrated...

i know sebrights are particularly fragile in the infantile stage... but i've never heard of that from crested breeds...

maybe if you tell more about living conditions, i.e. space in the brooder, bedding, feed, etc...

it could be a bad batch of feed

But I only lost 1 from another breed. Out of the 4 morans I had I lost 1 and out of the 6 total tophats I got from her I lost 3. Lost no one else, till last night to a possum. Makes the morans even with the tophats I suppose. Out of 6 breeds.

But everyone else is thriving. Thats why I am baffled.
