I am wondering if anyone could help me figure out why my duck died. She was a beautiful 8 month old muscovy. Very friendly. She was fine yesterday and last night. She was her usual self when I locked her away. This morning though she was lying with her wings spread on the ground of the pen. I was upset and had the kids outside so I left quickly so they didn't see and went back half an hour later. She was still breathing and trying to move. Her eyes were closed. I picked her up and she had a lot of liquid coming out of her vent. She died not long after. Her friend is very miserable looking and hasn't left the pen.
I don't know why she died. She was fine yesterday. Nothing can get into the pen and all the other poultry are fine.

. my first thought was mabey a weasel, but you said it was predator proof so idk. Mabey someone else can be of assistance.
