It was horrible! I was watching it wiggle out of the shell and then it started gasping for air and died! I saw where it was pulling away from the egg and I could see the umbilical cord. The yolk was absorbed, but as it pulled there was a little blood. Did it bleed to death?! I feel horrible and that it's my fault as I was watching....but I was not assisting or helping because I know it's important for them to hatch themselves. Did it pull out too soon because I was there? My girls are going to be so dissapointed when they get home from school as it was fine and chirping when they left. This was also the only egg that made it....the others had bad air cells from shipping....so no pretty call babies for us:(

I'm so sorry

Don't beat yourself up about it. Nature took it's course and unfortunately it was death. Hopefully your next hatch will be great and you will get lots of lovely ducklings.

Thanks. I don't think my husband wants me to try again as I'm a blubbering baby and he hates seeing me so sad lol!
