Maybe it was global warming?
maybe this was meant to be a joke but actually you are probably spot on with that statement whether you meant it as a joke or not.

Global warming is in fact an outdated term that is no longer used as it does not reflect the true nature of what increasing global temperatures does. We will soon see what I was taught at school a few decades ago already that increasing global temperatures cause more extreme weather.

More thunderstorms, more hurricanes, more tornadoes, colder and harsher winters (check), hotter summers (check) and ice caps would melt flooding some countries.

It is now called climate change instead to reflect the colder and colder winters we will be experiencing in the future.
