Why did this quail get attacked?!?

I have three quail, one is a male, one is a female and one of them is younger so idk the gender. They all have been getting along for 2 or three weeks and they are indoors so I keep an eye on them. But my male attacked my tuxedo quail (the youngest) and is trying to go after it. He’s even in another cage and is trying to get to the tux.

This is the one that attacked him, I separated him into this cage.

Do you think the tuxedo might be a boy too?

Well he is still trying to attack her even though he is separated. And she is as big as he is. But it might be over breeding. I’m not sure on the tux’s gender so do you think the tux might be a male?

Yea I didn’t think of that, I wonder why the change from loving him to hating him all of a sudden.

Well I saw him go after her again, after that injury was on her, when I walked over to them. And he’s still trying to go after her but he’s separated. If she goes near his cage he will make a growling noise and try to hurt her.

Sorry I keep calling the tux “her” it’s just out of habit. Idk the tux’s gender.

It sounds like either your male is getting over zealous with the tux, or your tux is a male. Can you check the tux's vent for foam?
