I managed a large free range chicken farm in Ireland, owned by australians. They always refer to chickens as chooks. It kinda encompasses all my poultry.

Because it is also a name I go by for my illustration website! www.squirrelgirlillustrates.blogspot.com

Why did I pick that name for illustrating? I think my husband was calling my dog squirrelgirl cause she was doing something that looked like a squirrel would normally do.

Because my very first mixed breed dog that adopted me (he doesn't give people choices)is a Border Collie-Kelpie cross. He is the kind of individual I wish I could be: bold, assertive, confident, beautiful, loving, playful, hard working, etc.
He is actually the first mixed breed I have ever owned (or been owned by lol) and I have learned more about life from him than I ever did from all my 'fancy' purebreds (except for my furry soul mate, Chatter, who is waiting for me in Heaven and taught me about patience and unconditional love).
I love my chickens, but my dogs teach me about life.
