We were at TSC today and my daughter asked the worker "why do chicks need heat lamps?"

To which he replied "Because they're cold blooded"

Huh... cold blooded? I didn't know a cold blooded animal could regulate their body temperature at 103 degrees. And I wonder why the adults don't need heat lamps then... Maybe the chicks need a heat lamp because they don't have their mother to keep them warm until they feather out.

At least he didn't give any potentially dangerous information.

Like a simple, 'To keep them warm' wouldnt do? Geez some people just dont know how to talk to kids....And shouldnt especially if they dont know what they are talking about
LOL

Chicks can't regulate their own body temperature...but I don't want to go against the knowledge of that employee lol!
