Why do I feel like there's something y'all are not tellng me:brahmas

I liked Brahmas from my chicken beginning, and the best way to get Brahma was from Speckledhen, the chicks are half Brahma.
For a beginner, try to decide what you want the chickens for. If it's for pets that lay eggs, or solely for eggs, or for meat. I would say that Brahma's have a basically good temperment, pretty good egg layer, and make terrible chicken pot pie!

I am a first time chicken person - I have 4 LB hens and I love them , they are hardy birds not flighty - they were a little shy when they were younger but now they are very social and calm, never in a hurry to get anywhere. I love the feathers on the feet DH says it looks like they are wearing PJ's with the feets -
I cant wait till mine are old enough to start laying nice big eggs for me.

Thanks y'all for replying. Makes me want brahmas more then ever. I want pets with benefits (a few eggs would be nice) and if there is any chicken eating to be done (as I know the SO will have to do if we wind up with too many roos) at least I won't be the one to taste the terrible pot pie and the SO would eat anything that didn't eat him first! Now it's just a matter of deciding between ordering chicks or incubating.....decisions, decisions, what have y'all done to me??? Remember me? I came here looking for advice on having a FEW chickens!

hi, i love my black jersey giants. not flighty at all, from 3 days old they totally curious about me. one jumped out of the brooder cage at a few weeks old to get a better look at me, then the other two had to check me out. they still come and check me out, they are curious even now at 3 months old, and bigger than my buff orpington who is full grown. they like it when i pet them, they sit on my lap when they feel like it. they have to taste my clothes every day. i get the feeling that they dont just like me for food. It seems like I fascinate them. But the only bad thing is they are lousy meat birds, they mature very late, and their meat tastes like chicken poop smells.
