why do my chickens eat their own eggs?

The Learning Center has a nice article on egg eating and breaking egg eaters https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/six-tips-on-breaking-your-egg-eater I find using lots of fake eggs, and collecting eggs often really help.

Thank you. Have plastic eggs in there now - was trying to get them to sit on them but think it may be backfired.
