All six of my G.L. Wyandottes have very poopy butts. Some are worse than others but they all have at least a little bit. It has been this way for a long time. Droppings are normal. The birds show no signs of worms or illness of any sort. My neighbor's chickens (Orpingtons) have nicely fluffy backsides.
Is it a normal Wyandotte thing or is it something else?

Some hens are tidier than others. Some hens have fluffier bums than others. However, perpetually poopy vents usually indicates worms or something in the diet causing loose stools.

You typically can't see worms in the poop. You would need a fecal float. Many feel it is important to regularly seasonally worm chickens for the inevitable build up.

As to diet. Are you feeding them good quality layer feed without too many fruit type treats?
