why do my ducks keep burying their eggs?

My duck always buries her eggs, I wouldn't worry about her going broody, they don't very often. But is there a reason why you don't want her to hatch? Do you just prefer hand raising inside?

too hard to find homes for all the babies and i would never kill them. so i would prefer to adopt a duck rather than hatch. so i either give the eggs away and let the girls eat as many of them as they like

That makes sense, I'd never kill either, But I live near an area where a lot of people have chickens or ducks so I can re-home any roos or Drakes if I need to. And it is hard hatching with a broody duck... Mine went broody this year and got zero from her first clutch, and one from her second. The baby didn't make it for more than a week though.

most people around here would end up killing the drakes we would rehome. i have 3 boys and they are the sweetest (my 2 girls are sweet too lol)

I agree you'll know if they go broody. It was unmistakable when my ducks did it a few years ago. I'll send you a photo if I can find it. They did a horrible job with two of them trying to incubate a big pile of unfertilized eggs at the same time. It was adorable and hilarious. They stayed on their monster nest all day and night, except when they darted off for a quick meal and drink. I thought they would tire of their game but they didn't and eventually I composted all the eggs so they could get back to eating normally.
