I'll echo what others have said that it does depend on the breed. Pekins are notoriously calm, while Khaki Campbells and Runners are wild little banshees. It's just their nature. In my experience, ducks in general are less friendly and more "herd-bound" (unless you have Pekin) than most chickens.
