Why do my hens wipe their beaks?

my Minorca gal hops up on my leg and does that really hard to get my attention for scratch!

Mine do it when I try to get them to eat garden slugs, and they usually do it on me. Yuuckk, can't say I blame them for not eating them.

Kayri - I keep trying to get mine to eat slugs too, but they ignore them -

I would have thought that they'd think of it as a nice juicy treat

On my couch... 9 Volt is a serious priss--if he eats anything that's wet or sticky, he wipes for 10 minutes! LOL Cheese, damp oatmeal, a mooched bite of my sandwich that has a dab of mayo on it... Hubby will give him a couple scraggles of shredded mozzarella when he's making a pizza; 9 Volt loves it and gobbles it up but spends the next half hour "wipe-wipe-wipe-wipe." Luckily, the back of the couch is fully House-Roo-proof with old, over-sized pillow cases.
