Why do people raise guineas?

hahaha,,, the "danger" could also be,, you moved something to a new spot,, they yell to let ya know their flying, commin in for a crash landing,,, or,, they REALLY scream when ya hide in the bush's,, and jump out screaming at them

Oh man I love those fainters! Never seen them but those videos crack me up every time.

the1much reminded me: one time I was in the car port and came out and accidentally surprised the guineas which were hanging out right by the door, they shot up like rockets up just few feet in front of my face- scared both of us! They screamed really good, too.

Our place is happy! At first, we tried to be real nice to the fainting goat, you know let her get used to us. That just didn't work. Seems if we head toward her that sends her over the edge. The spaniel figured out real quick that a few good bounding leaps in different directions would have her locked up in seconds. Our older lab steers clear. Seems she is highly suspect of a goat that stiffens up and falls over.
And yes, there is lots of puddin' around here

My guineas are all about the size of a leghorn hen, but none of them are over 6 months old.

I love my guineas, they are not however too good with the cold, cold weather. It is about 10 degrees here today. I noticed no one is down at the house, they are all in the barn !!

I got guinea Keets last spring from a breeder in Pa. he was emphatic that his guinea would breed just as any other. I cannot prove or disprove as I butchered all but one pair and as luck would have it the female was taken by a predator. They are very large and dont seem to fly as well as my standard guinea. I am going to get a few more this year. I will put some in my freezer and try to get some to breed. The hatchery I got them from has them year around not sure how he does it. I do enjoy them and they are a bit noisy but they seem to have some reason ( as small as it may be) to sound off. Doesnt bother me but I am sure it could drive some people nuts

Just a quick question/statement..

has anyone seen guineas at their local county fair??

Our fair board will not accept them bcause they are not considered a chicken and they are considere exodic foreign birds..

a muscovy duck was originally from Russia.. Isn't that foreign??
and a muscovy is not derived from a mallard so that makes it exodic also.. exotic? exodic? exo???
