Why do some chicks die in shell?

Do you think trying to help them out before they die next time is a bad idea?

Yes. You have no way of knowing if they're ready to come out or not. Too early, and you'll kill them anyway. Just let them be and try to figure out some sort of ventilation for your incubator.

I see you're using shipped eggs too which could add to the problem....Maybe try getting everything going with some local cheap hatching eggs or your own if you have any, then at least you can be confident its all ok before getting the shipped eggs you want?

How did you acquire the eggs? Are they local or postal eggs? I have had very bad rates with eggs acquired through the mail.
