I had 3 broodies sitting on eggs in the upper nest boxes. 1 chick hatched early and the broodies started stealing it from each other. Each time I would peek in the chick was in a different box being cuddled by a different hen looking all innocent. Worried about them hurting the chick in their enthusiasim I seperated out the broody that was sitting the longest with the chick. She is doing a great job for a first time mom.

This first time (young) mom, an australorp, is fantastic!! She is so good with the almost 2 week old babies, and they are all hanging out with the rest of the flock now as if they have always belonged. My big orpington roo seems to have taken on a daddy role too. He was calling to them today to give them treats. My other birds have been telling me that they need some love too :)
