Why do they eat..

I knew this was going to be a funny thread. I am not disappointed in so far.

My nasty little dogs love the chickie poo.

I am always running around with the garden hose washing it off the patio, and washing the spots I can see into the lawn.

I dont think i will be switching dog food brands as my dogs have always been on Bil-Jac and they look great are are heathy as ever!! But i do know that Bil-Jac dog food in made with mostly Beef and Chicken, and they dont use leftover parts either. they use the same parts of the animal as we eat, so it is one of the BEST dog foods on the market and is quite pricy because of which. No undigestable grains in it that i know of.

Now as far as the dogs go, they never eat chicken, turkey, or duck poo. Its just the darn Ducks that eat poo, and it is only the Bil-Jac dog poo. YUK!!!
One of my dogs did eat poo as a pup, but i broke that habit FAST!!

I cant seem to break the ducks of it tho. they ALWAYS seem to find a little leftover somewhere, and they its a poo-luck. I cant take it. Lately i check over the dogs area real good before the ducks come out. Seems to work better, but still droplets they seem to hunt out!

1.) I WAS eating when I started to read. Furtunately, it doesnt bother me the way it may bother others. lol

2.) Eating poo is a natural thing most, if not all animals do. can you imaging Adam and Eve spraying off their "patio"? lol. They'd have to hire an elephant to spray which would leave an all-you-can-eat mess. Although it is gross, it is natural. My dogs eat cow poo, chicken poo, duck poo, turkey poo, quail poo, guinea poo, horse poo and if they could get to the septic im sure they would try to eat human's too.

although i laughed sooooo hard when i read the mini dialogue.

ok, so a little off topic as im not including ducks in this, but one of my dog obsessively eats the other dogs poo, and she will NOT stop and it seems like I have tried everything but she still does it? How do I make her stop!??!?!

I am not sure that you can get it to stop. I would do everything that I could to limit access, but other than I don't know that there very much you can do. I will try to get one the members that is a dog trainer to respond if they will.

The other thing I might try is a vitamin supplement . May the dog lacking some type of nutrient. And of course it won't hurt the dog to eat it. It is just the gross out factor that we humans have to the idea. I would also worm the dog on a regular schedule.

Umm... I don't know if pineapple is healthy for ducks, but it is yum for dogs but makes the poop taste

I have tried all types of additives and none of them work. I feed her the same food i give my other dog and he doesnt do it, they are both healthy and wormed regularly its really obsessive to the point where she follows him around waiting for him to do it! and when i tell her off she just waits for me to turn my back and shes at it again! but anyway dont want to hijack the thread so il shut up now

Ok i had this same problem when my pups were about a year old. Only one of them was eating the poo and i could NOT take it.
The first thing i did was shock collar, if King even got close to Big Boi's poo, ZAP!!!
Now this worked for a while, but he knew when i wasnt watching and poo breath again.

After watching from inside the house and zapping and him still not listening i had had enough.
For some reason he only listened when i was outside with him so i decided i needed something stronger.

So i got out the paintball gun and figure it would only take 1 or 2 times.
MAN O MAN, I was right!! The first time it took 2 shots, one broke and left a pink spot on his side and the other bounced off.
Later that same day we tried again, 2 more shots and away he went.

Next day we tried and he would sniff the other poo but no more eating!!

Now while this is non lethal, I DO NOT RECOMEND ANYONE DOING IT!!
I raise a large bloodline of pit bulls, and they are very tough herding dogs!

Hope that helps a little.................now if i could only figure out these ducks¿¿¿

lol i dont think a little puggle could take a paint ball attack! i have tried the medication, a couple of different ones and it doesnt make a difference to her. I would have a shock collar but OH would never allow it, I had one for the constant barking and ofcourse you cant keep it on constantly so as soon as it was off she was barking again, seems like the kind of dog that never learns a lesson
