I agree with what Ruthie wrote! How I wish my mom and I could sit on the back porch together telling stories and watching the chickens!

I love my chickens becuase they help me deal with the loss of my mom. And there is something so silly about them. You can't take yourself too seriously when you're chasing a chicken!

I loves them because they are silly and they gossip with each other and they're plump and soft and so utterly innocent. They give me beautiful, yummy eggs, have sweet, adorable faces, big warm feet, fluffy bums, and never fail to make me laugh and cheer me up!

Chickens have beautiful souls!

They are completely charming, funny, and lovely.

Because they are pretty, funny, taste good, lay big nice eggs, and just because who can't love a chicken?!!

I like to sit out and watch them around 7 in the morning. That is the best time of day anyways IMO and I like to go sit and watch them after breakfast for a while. It is peaceful.


I forgot to add that in the winter they make great hand warmers! Pick one up and snuggle your hands in their down and you will warm up instantly!

I love that I can sit by the pool with friends and watch their faces as a chicken begins to peck at their toes

I also love to watch the hubby sit by the garden with a chicken roosting on his knee as he watches the kids in the yard. And this from a man who threw a fit about chickens in the first place.

Or how as dusk approaches and I head outside to put them in for the night and they come running from wherever they were with their heads down and wings out like little rockets.

Well, they are a lot more work than I ever imagined they would be. I keep thinking up new projects to do for my chickens. I just got back from TSC and Home Depot, and am about to go out to make a chicken tractor. Who'd have thought, me making a "chicken tractor".

I have learned how to do carpentry projects because of my chickens! Although my projects are far from perfect, my chickens seem to love what I've done! That brings me satisfaction, far more than I would've imagined.

I can't wait for my first egg to arrive, which should be any day! I heard a lot of "Bwok Bwok"-ing this morning, and I ran out to the coop. Nothing yet, but I can't wait!

I love my chicken because they bring joy, peace and genuine happiness to me. I never tire of observing them and getting to know each of their individual personalities. I consider them as the ultimate pets: they are cute and adorable, intelligent and curious, they give fresh eggs, they take care of the bugs, they produce the best natural fertilizer and their poo doesn't even stink! I simply cannot imagine my backyard without any chicken anymore.

I love my chicken so much that it's hard to put in words.

And it hurts so bad each time one passes away.
