so today I found out that 2 pullets that I had sold in october 12 this year, had died. one had died one day and the other died the next day.
the owner says they hadn't been sick before the died, and they always had access to food and water. he thinks my chickens has to have a virus or something that caused this. how can I see if my chickens have a virus?
I said I don't think they have a virus tho, I have chicks from that same hatched as these to, that are alive and well, and I haven't had any chickens dying this year.
I'm so confused. If my chickens would have a virus or som sickness that makes them die one day, wouldn't my chicken/ and chicks be dying also? also I have been selling many other chicks this year and no one has complained of them dying all of the sudden, wouldn't those chicks be dying to?
but anyway is there something I can do to figure that out if my chickens have a virus?

or can young pullets die from something else? I really want to try figure out what happened to them, give him some kind of answer other then my chickens haven't been dying but I don't know what to say.
I'm thinking that maybe I should offer him some fertile egg or something because of his lost, I feel bad for him for loosing 2 pullets just in 2 days

I'm sorry to hear this.

The only way to know why the pullets died would be to have testing/necropsy.
What state do you live in, I can find your state lab for you.

They'd need to send a chicken in for necropsy. If they are saying they were sick then they should be sending one in to prove their point. There are so many different reasons why a young bird passes away, but if he's saying they showed no signs of illness then he can't really prove it unless he does the necropsy.

You can offer him fertile eggs just to diffuse the situation, but will he accept them?

okey, thanks. I live in Iceland not sure you can find the state lab there, but I don't know.
I can also ask my neighbor if she know where the state lab is her in Iceland

Chickens can get diseases from the ground that they walk on, so I don't think that they will actually be able to prove that it came from your property unless you get your birds blood tested.

I'm hoping that this person isn't being rude or anything to you. When you buy chickens, you need to have the mindset that some of them may not make it.

I see. Do you have a department of agriculture or veterinary school - that may be good places to start - ask if they perform any poultry testing/necropsy.

okey thanks, he hasn't really called me, he just message me on Facebook and says his coop is so clean all the time and the water always fresh that it's not from his place. I said I also keep a clean coop and fresh water.
but I found out where he can take the pullets for testing and told him about it, haven't gotten a answer yet. but my mom called me and said she doesn't think he should be assuming that this comes from my hens with out testing them.
I do think it's a little bit strange to just tell someone that there chickens have a virus or sickness because there chickens died all of the sudden... but I do feel bad for his loss tho and hope he will send them for testing, and if there is something wrong with them I will test my hens to to figure out if it came from my chickens.

just googled it and found it right away, it is more near him and also he has the bodies so I told him to take them there for testing to se what they died of. don't know if he will do it yet tho

The reason why he is putting the blame on you is because he doesn't want to blame himself. Typical human reaction... I wouldn't stress about it and I would just be as nice about it as I could possibly be. Maybe you can offer him fertile eggs or chicks if you hatch them. I would let him get them tested first and see what happens.

It doesn't matter how clean you keep your coop or what you feed your chickens, the ground carries diseases and you can't get rid of them. You can only try to prevent them. Wild birds also carry diseases into people's yards through their droppings.
