Why Does Buying a House have to be so Stressful?

LOL! We're already moved in...just a matter of the paperwork. Just scary I guess. We've put a life together here and to think that something could take it away..knocks you down a peg or two.

A good realtor and banker will guide you through the whole thing. DH and I bought our first house when we were 22. We'd been married less than a year and were pregnant with our first at the time. Looking back, that was really young! Once all is said and done, you'll be SO happy you did it!

I understand, we go to closing on 11/11/11 LOL. We put bids in on four different homes and they all fell through so we are holding our breathes on this one. I take it one day at a time and I did a count down on my calendar. Everyday I get to mark one more day down and I pack at least one box a day. It helps. If this falls through for some stupid reason I guess I'll just live out of a box

It will all turn out in the end. Deep breaths! When I bought my house I had a 30 day escrow, it took 87 days for them to close. I was literally 24 hrs from trying to work 72 hrs a week and live in a car with 3 horses and 2 dogs. I got mad and called the seller after they reneged on the closing date for the 3rd time and told them "It closes today or I will withdraw my offer". They were stunned and amazed that I would even consider doing that. My house closed that day. When you first walk into your house and say it's mine it is an awesome feeling! It's kinda like labor, where the end result is mind blowing!

I've bought four different properties and never found it too stressful.

Seven houses? It sounds like they are making lowball offers and aren't too serious about buying.

I know other people who walk in, make an offer, it's accepted and nothing ever goes wrong.

That's me. If I am serious about buying, I offer 10% - 15% lower than the asking price. They make a counter-offer for 5%-10% lower, I accept, we draw up the paperwork and it's done.

Of course, I've also sold a number of houses. It works the same, but in reverse. The tire kickers and those looking for deep discounts are just wasting everybody's time. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. Don't get emotionally attached to some dream that may happen if only the seller will accept some crazy offer.

Being a realtor, at least for the rest of this year, communication and understanding is the first and foremost thing I can offer you. . .your agent should always be on top of things . . . and if you don't understand something, absolutely do not hesitate to ask . . .its so stressful for the agent also, that is one of the reasons I am getting out. Every closing is worse and now new laws have made it even worse on all of us putting the paperwork together! So, take a deep breath and it will all be ok~~

Good luck!! Oh, and pictures please!!!
