Why does it do that scratching?

I have a 1 week old jersey giant chick that when it falls asleep it will suddenley wake up and cratch infront of his ear now there is a small patch of hairless skin there it screaches and stands on one foot and scratches with the other and he old his wing out when he starts to fall over he uses his wing to balance his self why what can i do i have had no deaths and all are doing good?

Chicks are clumsy. It is only 7 days old after all. Chicks are also itchy. They are trying to grow in all kinds of new feathers, so they are naturally just... itchy and scratchy. If you have done a bug check and not found any evidence of problems in that realm, I would just consider the behavior to be normal.
