Hi all,
frow.gif
One of my geese got attacked by a fox Monday morning. It was about 2:00 a.m. when my geese started making lots of noise. It was so loud it woke me up. I ran down stairs and I heard a gasping honking sound. My dad and mom got up also so my dad ran out side and called Eve to come and get the fox (she is my black & tan coon hound/ Rottweiler mix). She woke up and was on the fox right away. By then I was outside barefoot in my jammies with a flashlight and a gun chasing the fox along with Eve. The fox let go of my goose as it went under the fence to my horse pasture and got away. The goose is alive and recovering really well. I think she was too big for the little fox, so the fox could not get a death hold on her. So she is going to be o.k. But I'm sad b/c it truns out the fox has kits so I don't know if I should let it live or not? If I do hunt it I am not sure how I should go about hunting the fox; any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all

I mean that the fox has kits under my neighbors barn. And ya the goose was locked up in a pen ( I am now redoing it and greatly improving the security of the pen).

Well, the way I see it, you have two options: Kill the fox and her cubs or make the goose pen fox proof.

Personally, I would do both.

Oh don't kill the fox and leave her babies to starve to death......lock the geese up good at night and fox proof the coop

....I know I will get a lot of grief for saying that but the thought of her babies alone and starving is SO sad and YES I Love my chickens and would never want harm to come to them !!!! , if anyone should ask

All creatures are just trying to make their way in this world. I would just really beef up your goose pen. Perhaps getting one of these would help.

I like that night guard A LOT and very reasonably priced, I might have to get one myself

Im not going to tell you what to do, but personally I couldn't kill a fox & kits..

That being said I HIGHLY stress if you do decide to dispose of her, please dispose of her babies too.. Don't let them starve!!
