Why does my 2 1/2 month old Red Sex link...?

She has been the sweetest chick and still loves to be held but...she comes running to me for me to hold and when I bend down to pick her up, she bites the poo out of me. Not peck, bite. Then when I pick her up and hold her, she is happy. Closes her eyes and talks quietly to me. What's up with that?

Could be something about dominance and pecking order with respect to your hand. Hopefully she can get over it as chicken bites can be hard.

I don't know maybe she just figures she lost the battle so she might as well give in and be lovable!

lol she just loves you. mine jump on my shoulders and pull my hair out by the root they always have and my ameraucana she sits on my head and trys to let no one do it she carries on like crazy when they pull my hair i havent had one poop on me that im lucky about

You are being trained. Once your chicken feels you have learned to pick her up quickly this reinforcement should stop.
