I have a trio of French blue splash marans and they are really nice, but the rooster walks wierd. He walks like he is trying to step over something, kind of a high stepper, and doesn't seem to have real good balance. Other than that they all seem very healthy, just walks odd. They are about 4-5 months old.

LOL

Rooster testicles are just inside their backs above their intestines when you look from the top.

Roosters for some reason tend to like to do the "big man walk" and make big steps. Sometimes it's just because, sometimes it's to not trip themselves on long spurs.

It's probably just his rooster swagger, but on occasion, scaly leg mites and/or arthritis will make them high-step. At his age, I seriously doubt arthritis and if his scales look smooth and not raised, then it's probably not leg mites, either.

He definitely is not dominant. I had to separate this trio from my copper black maran trio. The CB rooster was whipping the daylights out of him. But being French, maybe he is a lover not a fighter. LOL

I know this is an old thread but I read it and find that if someone has the same question I will pop it up there.... Bumblefoot... Look at the pads of the rooster's feet.
