Why does one have to worry so much???

Isn't that where the term "mother hen" came from.

I looked at an incubator in tractor supply the other day and Actually thought about it, and then thought ohhhh HELL no, I have WAY to much to worry about now and Ran out of the store

I am Robin and I WAS a worrier.

For the past 21 days I have lost sleep, checked on the bator every 15 to 20 minutes and I even got up in the middle of the night to come all the way down stairs to stare at the bator, checking temp, humidity, everything and nothing would be changed.

I would trudge back to bed, toss and turn for about an hour and then no sooner that I would fall asleep, I would be back up to check things again.

We are now at day 21 and we have 5 little chickies and at least 7 more that may hatch some time tonight or tomorrow. The other 5,

Thanks Robin. : ) and everyone. It is good to know I am not alone in this. : )

These are little lives I am trying to shepherd into this world. I have no broody hens and I know that they sure as heck aren't worried about them, so I have to worry for them and for these potential peepers....I think I am nuts!!!!

I am a slave too..this is our first hatch in a bator..second one in total if you count a botched broody hen a few years ago...she ended up killing her babies as they were coming out so I "saved" two of her last eggs and they hatched in a shoe box on my kitchen counter under a desklamp..
This batch of eggs in my bator is from another broody hen that was killed by a raccoon..while still on them last sunday night..so sad..
Out of teh seven two have hatched safely, one was helped last night as it got shrinkwrapped..he/she is still alive although not moving much yet..I still have two eggs , but I am thinking these are duds...or maybe just laid a little later ..

I am a slave to my bator too...

I always hover over my bator too, except the day of hatching. Without fail, there will
be a major work/family or some kind of crises the day they hatch. Wish me luck for
Wednesday. One thing is for certain, anybody that hatches eggs is persistent. I'm
trying to hatch eggs that cracked during shipping with wax bandages. A small chunk of shell
popped off one, that I don't think is going to make it, but before joining this site I would
have never tried.
