Why does this website say these humidity numbers for hatching???

You will find a bunch of different numbers from a bunch of different sites. I would say that is too high, but it might work for some people. I incubate at 40% and hatch at 60%.

Every one speaks with a tongue of their own language when it comes to minute factors of incubating. I know that those are high levels, but let's take a minute and take into consideration other variables: what about atmospheric pressure? sea level? Natural humidity within the room itself? Surrounding temperatures? How about air pollution or simply the different chemical make-up of each of our environments all over the world?

These may not affect us because humans have been highly adaptable to almost any environment; however, does this not affect the ability of an egg to hatch? They are suppose to come from some jungle in Asia right? And it took millions of years of evolution for them to develop the right mold for natural egg incubation. My guess is that the ideal humidity and temps can vary greatly depending on region.

What a ramble.

I totally agree with this statement. However, 80-85% for lockdown is way too high unless you are parked in the middle of the Saraha on a summer day.

Websites can be set up by anyone. And that means people with no knowledge. I read an article recently that stated for fact that all eggs are laid brown and bleached before being sent to grocery stores.

That was so ridiculous, alot of us here sent messages to the owner of the board it was posted on.

Agreed with Katy.

Personally, I actually followed by that percentage when I first started out. Big mistake. If I knew better, I would have double the Tolbunt Polish I do now, triple the Marans I do now, and quadruple the Ameraucanas I do now.

The fact that I have a website proves that.

I do remember that article about bleach....

High altitude in an arid environment that might be the way to go. Here in Florida it would all be much too high. These things can and do vary a lot depending on where you live which is why until you have good reason to know better I think it best to stay with the manufacturer's directions for using your incubator.
