Why dont Doctors listen??? *RaNtInG my heart out*

Not saying ALL nurses are unfeeling or all doctors.

My favorite doctor EVER was my OB/GYN for 5 years who delivered both of my kids, a MAN who always said I was right.

The doctor who has been blowing me off is a woman, and she also tells me nothing is wrong when I bring feverish, dehydrated kids in to her, I hate her. But her nurse rocks.

My OB/GYN is a woman, very awesome, but its over an hour drive so I try to put off going as much as possible. Even being in the biggest city for hundreds of miles and at the newest medical facility, she had no idea what I was talking about when I asked to be checked for uterine cancer. But at least she tries. I do not like her nurse one itoa but the doctor is good.

The doc I saw yesterday was a man in his late 50's/early 60's and I knew just from looking at him that he would not help me but after waiting that long I wasnt going to just leave...

I am almost due for my favorite annual anyways so I might just call and bump it up a couple of weeks...I really do think I have Ovarian Cysts or Uterine Cancer and that I am being ignored to death!

It is hard to find great medical care. You know, the kind where they actually care. But they are out there, sometimes just hard to find. I found a wonderful practice just last year. My very first appt. there I was in and out in less than an hour including history, physical, blood work, EKG, referrals to two specialists (which they scheduled for me in the office) and check out. I waited no more than 3-4 minutes for anything and I was shocked! I also have no insurance, so it was pay as you go. They told me about a plan through the hospital group that offers discounts for those without insurance and called to set that up as well.

A month or so later when I suspected I had contracted Lyme's disease from a tick bite, they didn't schedule an appointment at all they just said, "Come in right now!"

Please keep looking until you find a doctor that listen to you. I hope you find one soon!

I agree with you , I have had my share of problems with Drs not bealveing me both about me and about my son I could tell many many stories, like when I went to the ER after wakeing up in the middle of the night with horrible chest pain , my room mate took me up the triage nurse took my blood pressure and temp and pulse then I waited like another half an hour for the Doc who came in and without looking at me even listening to my lungs or anything handed me a Paper bag , he says to me youre haveing a panic attack go home and walked out . I ended up haveing surgry the next week cause the next time I went in for the chest pain that never went away a few days later a Dr after telling me I had heartburn and me telling him did he want to stake his liabilty premiums on it finnaly gave me an US and CS and discovred it was my gall bladder and I had not only a ton of stones but one was blocking / stuck in a duct , hence the horrible chest pain. I had to have surgry a couple days later to remove it.
THats just one of many stories I have , I have a PA now who I adore who listens to me and who bealves me no matter what , What I have discoverd is that Drs these days 1 dont listen to patients 2 dont care as much about practiceing there craft as they do about pleaseing inshurance people 3 judge people to much.
Case in point I have had above and many other things when it comes to dr and especally ER docs Its like pulling teeth from a hippo to get them to listen to me bealve me then treat me with anything but pain killers , I have goverment (poor people inshurance) , my sister on the other hand went to the ER once for fainting one night and they keeped her for observation treated her respectfully orderd all sorts of MRIs CS and sleep studies , becuase she fainted there were no other symptoms and nothing but a little high blood pressure showed up on her tests BUT she had blue cross blue shield .
Im cosntantly fighting with health care providers for my rights and my sons . Im feel lucky every day that my son has a good DR that listens to me and has actually gone up to the ER herself on a day of to brow beat the morons up there into admitting him becuase if youre not bleeding or suffecateing or dont have an obvious injury like a broken limb youre not sick .
